FINALS ARE OVER!!!

my week has been deadly... I started getting sick last Sunday, and it reached its peak on Thursday morning when I had a fever and possibly a sinus infection. I made an appointment at CHWS, my school's on campus clinic, and they made me sit in a little waiting room. My body felt heavy, my throat was throbbing, and I was pretty sure that my brain was replaced with a coiled cobra, releasing its venom every time my head turned. An hour passed by, I was still sitting in the waiting room staring at a large poster titled, "Understanding Middle Ear Infection," which vividly demonstrated a progression of yellow goo oozing out of someone's ear. The door finally opened, and I pictured a bottle of antibiotics, and a label hugging the bottle with my name on it... "Must take one pill each day for 7 days," it would say... and the cobra will return my brain, and all will be well.... "sorry, the doctor has been busy with the last patient and she's going home now, can we reschedule?" the nurse said. I wanted to vomit on her face. I told the nurse, "I have a final tomorrow, I've been taking over-the-counter medicine for a week and it hasn't gotten better.. can she see me for a little bit?" the nurse goes, "I'm sorry, we can't do anything about that. I suggest you take a warm shower and get a good night's rest, oh btw, we can make an appointment for you at 8am, if you like." Fuck you cobra and fuck you lady, you have awful hair.

anyway, my final on Friday went well though. considering how much I studied, I think I did pretty damn well. Yesterday was just a weird day. I didn't really know what to do with myself after the finals were over. I did eventually get crunk with the Asians and an American, then got my face slightly burnt from the campfire. People were saying goodbyes, a lot of people are going abroad again next year, or not coming back again because of graduation or other reasons. No matter how many times I see this happen, I can never get used to saying bye.

anyway #2.

weird.

my decision to stay in Tacoma in the summer seems to have taken some sort of emotional burden off my shoulder. I can't quite figure out what it is, because Tacoma has always been just a place where I go to school, but suddenly, Tacoma is becoming my home. It's kind of weird, when I first decided to stay here, I tried hard to think of all the positive reasons why I should stay in Tacompton. In that process, I somehow convinced myself that I actually wanted to disassociate myself from Hawaii. this is weird. the idea seems new, yet kind of old. I mean after all, the whole reason why I decided to NOT to go to UH was because I wanted to get out of there. and its really not that I hate Hawaii, but something about it tells me that I shouldn't be there.
I also feel like I'm actually settling down for the first time since high school. Having to switch my lifestyle every break is stressful. this summer I feel like I actually get to continue with my life without putting it on pause... whenever I go back to Hawaii, I'm often disappointed with the stagnant lifestyle - with exception of constant remodeling of Ala Moana shopping center and growing belly of King Tuckster, nothing ever changes. friends tell me about the same problem they had since the previous summer and the summer before that, and then I offer them the same solution to the problem which I told the previous summer, and the summer before that. and, its not just them, I seem to get involved in this as well. so far, every single summer since the Freshman year of college, I've had some sort of emotional break down regarding my relationships with people from home. and I've noticed that its usually a domino effect that starts out in Hawaii and knocks down everyone, including anyone who is even remotely related to the certain issue. because in Hawaii, everyone fucking knows everyone. another words, "personal problem" does not exist in hawaii. it always have to be everyone's problem. and thats definitely not cool with me.

well, I was gonna write more but I'm off work so must get out. yay :D

the concert was pretty good. I wish the venue was not at our gym but at a bar nearby, but oh well. I got to see them pretty close, they pretty much look exactly like how they look on the photos. I'm not a HUGE fan of them but I'm glad I got to hear them live. :3

2.10.07
Sasha's family was visiting from Portland. I tagged along with them to the Tacoma Art Museum and the Museum of Glass.

I was not able to take any photos inside the museums which was a bummer. but at the Museum of Glass, they had an exhibition of an "electronic" artist, Jim Campbell. I never heard about this artist before so when I read the introduction about him, I thought the exhibition was going to have bunch of robots or something, so I wasn't very thrilled.. but after I had gone around the exhibition, my mind was completely blown away. He has an education background in engineering and filmmaking, but his artworks were also powerfully psychological. I was intrigued by how effectively he demonstrated this fusion of art and science. Most of his works consisted of very unique forms of video imaging like one of a lady standing up and picking up a telephone but she's moving ULTRA slow so you can't really tell she's moving. There were also weird objects like analog clocks that times the speed of a person breathing or blinking. My favorite one was called, "The Last Day in Beginning of March," which an incredible installation piece.

I really enjoyed this view because I like railroad tracks and in combination with the highway, it reminds me of Tokyo.

Chahuli~ deep inside, I was scared all this glass was going to fall down on my head.
When we crossed the bridge, we were greeted by the Tacoma Popo.
turns out, the native Indians were protesting in front of the courthouse.

So at the Tacoma Art Museum, we went to see the exhibition called "Frida Kahlo: Images of an Icon." It was interesting because I'm not a big fan of her art but I always wanted to know more about her as a person, and the exhibition mainly consisted of actual photographs of her and Diego Rivera and portraits done by other artists. She had fabulous hair...

Thank you Borodovsky family for taking me out!
