So I went to New York for Labor day weekend.

Mi amiga from college Sasha bought me a ticket to Electric Zoo, a huge 2 day rave that featured some of my favorite artists!

We had a deal that if I buy plane tickets, she'll get me the tix to the concert. so I flew my ass across America last Saturday.

I also finally accepted a fact about myself and that is I become REALLY emotional during an airplane take off. It does not matter where I'm going, leaving, doing or thinking, when that plane takes off, I get teary eyes because something inside my brain tells me it is a very profound moment I am witnessing.

Anyway, New York was great, everything is all close together and OPEN 24 hours!!! Reminded me a lot of Tokyo, the subway stations were a lot like the ginza-line in Tokyo. Everyone seemed a lot more skinny than here either because of drugs or because they walk so much using public transportation. They also all looked very stylish in a "I'm not even trying hard to look good but I look so good" kind of way. Being in a big city always makes me feel so tiny compared to the world, but in a good, cozy kind of way. My japanese superstitiousness tells me its my year-of-the-Rat persona speaking. nonetheless, I felt such a rush being in crowds of people and sea of man made concrete buildings like wow I am part of this human society.... duuuude.

The concert was F'n amazing.

The best rave I've ever been hands down. it's been my dream since the time I first hit up a rave in Hawaii to go to a massive on the mainland and I finally f'n did it!

The venue was on an island/park off the coast of upper part of Manhattan. There were 3 giant tents setup and then 1 giant open stage. I'd say there were like at least 10000 people there, probably more. But at each stage, some dj/artist was playing at any given time.

I was at the concert for most of my trip so I didn't do any sight seeing, but I def wanna go visit again. I've always thought east coast was kind of scary because when I was little I visited dad in DC and NY and they were both very terrifying places for a 10 year old non-english speaking child to be traveling alone. but not so bad now. I wanna keep traveling east. Sasha and Andrew were telling me about their roadtrip across US and it really sounded fun!
